Yes, being Algerian 🇩🇿 has certain advantages to obtain residence permits in France, because Algerian nationals benefit from a specific regime, governed by the Franco-Algerian agreement of 27 December 1968. This agreement, separate from the common law, facilitates entry, residence and certain administrative procedures for Algerians in France. The main benefits are:

1. Easy entry into France: Algerian nationals benefit from more flexible entry conditions, without the need for a long-stay visa for certain types of residence permits.
2. Certificates of 10 years’ residence: Algerians can obtain a certificate of residence valid for 10 years more quickly. For example, an Algerian spouse of a French citizen can obtain this certificate after one year of marriage, and a parent of a French child obtains it after a certificate of one year. For other nationals, this 10-year residence certificate is accessible after 3 years of residence in France, instead of 5 years according to the common law.
3. Freedom of establishment for self-employed activities: The agreement allows Algerians to engage more freely in independent commercial or professional activities in France, without additional conditions.
4. Residence permits for family reunification: The members of the family of an Algerian admitted under the family reunification scheme receive a residence permit of the same duration as that of the family member they join, often 10 years.
